Mechanical Engineer (Utility/Power Plant)
Position Summary:
- Provide engineering & design, project management, asset management, risk assessment, and technical support for Combined Cycle construction projects.
- Apply engineering and project management principles to power generation and infrastructure facilities.
- Independently plan work to meet objectives; progress reviewed periodically.
Work Location: Greater Tampa Bay Florida Area
Essential Functions:
- Assist project team from detailed engineering and design to commercial operation.
- Contribute to safety, quality, budget, and schedule performance.
- Follow through on assignments timely and effectively.
- Understand contract requirements.
- Ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Develop and maintain technical drawings, plans, and procedures.
- Identify, monitor, mitigate, and report on project risks.
- Collaborate on project engineering from design to commissioning.
- Facilitate interaction between construction and operations personnel.
- Maintain project history through documentation.
- Develop technical specifications, pricing documents, bidders' lists, bid evaluation criteria, and project cost estimates.
- Review and approve technical reports, specifications, and drawings.
- Identify gaps in project practices and recommend solutions.
- Perform and review engineering analyses and studies.
- Evaluate and review contracts for technical compliance.
- Evolve engineering and project management skills through training and industry involvement.
- Perform NERC Compliance Program roles as designated.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Professional Engineer registration in Florida preferred.
- 4 years of experience in project engineering, design, and construction of power plants or industrial facilities.
- Knowledge of power generation industry, rotating machines, and applicable codes, standards, regulations.
- Demonstrate informed judgment and use of technical & business judgment in engineering and project management.
Technical Competencies/Skills:
- Knowledge of mechanical equipment, ASME pressure vessels, and balance of plant systems.
- Project planning, development, and implementation.
- Risk and condition assessment of mechanical systems and components.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
