Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our MEP engineering team. The Mechanical Design Engineer performs a variety of engineering tasks and collaborates with multi-disciplinary teams to design innovative and technically sound solutions in accordance with project requirements and applicable codes. Knowledge of BIM and previous experience with Revit is essential. The individual designs HVAC systems for commercial, institutional, education, hospitality, government, residential, retail, and industrial facilities. The capability to coordinate with other building design disciplines is important. The ideal candidate will have technical knowledge of working/construction documents and familiarity with building codes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design HVAC systems for various types of facilities.
  • Perform engineering calculations and analyses to ensure system performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate mechanical systems into overall project designs.
  • Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and documentation for mechanical systems.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure compliance with design specifications and codes.
  • Provide technical support during construction and commissioning phases.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, technologies, and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with emphasis in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 2-4 years of successful project experience within a consulting engineering firm.
  • Base understanding of HVAC system design including airside ductwork and hydronic piping distribution.
  • Knowledge of process piping, fire protection, and plumbing systems.
  • Ability and willingness to learn from Senior Design Engineers.
  • Understanding coordination requirements between disciplines.
  • Ability to read and understand Mechanical Systems Codes and Standards.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • LEED Accreditation preferred.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Working knowledge of REVIT and discipline-specific software packages such as Trane/Trace and Carrier HAP.
