Position Overview:
We are seeking a Mechanical Department Head with 15-25 years of experience to lead our mechanical engineering team. This senior leadership role will be responsible for overseeing mechanical design operations, managing high-profile projects, and driving technical excellence across all projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems design, strong leadership skills, and a deep understanding of industry trends and best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the mechanical engineering department, overseeing project execution, quality control, and team development.
- Provide technical oversight for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection system designs for commercial, retail, hospitality, government, healthcare, and education projects.
- Develop and implement department strategies to improve efficiency, innovation, and project delivery.
- Manage and mentor a team of engineers and designers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and execute business strategies, including client engagement and project acquisition.
- Ensure all projects comply with relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards (ASHRAE, IMC, IPC, NFPA, LEED, etc.).
- Review and approve designs, calculations, specifications, and reports to maintain high-quality standards.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in mechanical engineering, energy efficiency, and sustainability.
- Support business development efforts by participating in client meetings, proposal development, and presentations.
- Oversee project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation to ensure profitability and timely delivery.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; Master's degree is a plus.
- 15-25 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a strong background in building systems design.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Extensive experience with HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems in commercial, retail, hospitality, government, healthcare, and education projects.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams.
- Strong knowledge of building codes, energy standards, and sustainability practices (ASHRAE, LEED, etc.).
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Carrier HAP, and Trane TRACE.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and strategic planning skills.
- Strong business acumen, with experience in project management, budgeting, and client relations.
