Envelope PM
About the Firm
A well-established and respected building envelope consulting firm based in New York City is seeking a versatile and experienced Project Manager to join its growing team. With a portfolio that spans historic restoration and modern high-rise development, the firm works at the intersection of preservation and innovation-offering full-service expertise in façade restoration, waterproofing, and new construction envelope design.
This is a rare opportunity for a candidate with a strong foundation in restoration to expand their skill set into new construction envelope consulting and design, or vice versa. You'll play a central role in delivering both technically complex restoration projects and high-performance envelope systems for ground-up developments.
Role Overview
The Project Manager will lead a range of building envelope projects, from investigative assessments and façade restorations to new construction design consulting and performance detailing. This position requires technical curiosity, strong project coordination skills, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and project phases.
Responsibilities
Manage full-cycle restoration projects including facades, roofs, terraces, and waterproofing systems-from investigation through design, bidding, and construction administration.
Perform on-site evaluations, forensic investigations, and FISP-compliant façade inspections.
Prepare technical reports, construction drawings, and specifications for both restoration and new construction scopes.
Oversee and coordinate construction progress, site visits, and quality control during field work.
Support or lead new construction envelope consulting, including system design review, thermal/moisture detailing, QA/QC, and mock-up evaluations.
Collaborate with architects, developers, contractors, and in-house technical teams to ensure performance goals, constructability, and compliance are met.
Stay current on applicable codes, materials, and sustainability standards impacting both restoration and new builds.
Qualifications
Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or related field.
5+ years of relevant experience in building envelope work-with demonstrated experience in both restoration and new construction preferred.
Strong technical knowledge of masonry, curtain walls, window walls, roofing, waterproofing, and building science fundamentals.
Proficiency in AutoCAD; Revit, Rhino, and thermal modeling tools a plus.
Clear and concise communication skills-written and verbal-with the ability to interface with clients and contractors.
Licensure or certification (RA, PE, RRO, BECxP, etc.) a plus but not required.
What This Role Offers
Dual Exposure: Hands-on involvement in both restoration and new construction projects, offering long-term professional growth.
Diverse Project Types: Work on NYC landmarks, high-rise towers, cultural institutions, and more.
