Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer
Location: Tampa, FL
Role Summary:
An engineering firm is looking for an Electrical Engineer/Designer to create electrical systems that meet project goals. The position requires a deep understanding of engineering processes and contract documents.
Main Duties:
- Develop electrical systems (lighting, power distribution, emergency generation, fire alarm, security, etc.) using design software.
- Ensure efficient layouts, specifications, and compliance with codes.
- Create and coordinate BIM drawings throughout all project stages.
- Handle construction administration tasks (site visits, reviewing shop drawings, creating punch lists).
- Oversee project scope and ensure it matches contract documents.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, architects, and code officials.
- Guide and support junior engineers/designers.
- Perform other related tasks as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in electrical engineering management and design of commercial buildings.
- At least 2 years of experience working with multi-discipline engineering teams.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer in Training (EIT) preferred.
- Experience with various project delivery methods (design-build, design-bid construct, fast-track).
- Knowledge of local, state, and national codes and regulations.
- Proficiency in Revit MEP and other engineering software.
- Strong technical/computer skills (Microsoft O365, internet, web applications).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to create original specifications and complete project manuals.
- Hands-on experience evaluating electrical engineering options.
- Experience with cost-saving strategies.
