Civil Engineering Manager - Gas Turbines
Job Description:
The Civil Engineering Manager leads a team of engineers and designers to create civil and structural designs that comply with codes, contracts, and schedules for projects in the Americas. The main focus of the role is on auxiliary equipment for large industrial gas turbines, which can operate alone or with steam turbines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (BS) in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineering License
- Minimum of ten (10) years of technical experience in industrial facilities
- At least four (4) years of management experience, or equivalent leadership roles
- Experience with power plant design
- Knowledge of foundation design for large rotating equipment
- Proficiency in dynamic analysis
- Expertise in foundation settlements and pile design/calculation
- Familiarity with GT Strudl and TEKLA
- Understanding of SmartPlant 3D and integrated 3D design concepts
- Knowledge of Canadian, Mexican & South American safety, structural, and building codes
- Language skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
Primary Responsibilities:
- Focus on auxiliary equipment for large industrial gas turbines in simple or combined cycle operation with steam turbines.
- Set team goals, track progress, and develop individual performance.
- Establish processes for forecasting, staffing, and resource use to ensure high-quality design packages.
- Maintain lessons learned, ECN process, and Task Management Systems for the Civil Team.
- Develop division of responsibilities between Civil Team and other engineering teams, including international partners.
- Review, comment, and approve team project documents and drawings.
- Conduct regular meetings with international engineering partners.
- Monitor schedules, budgets, and estimates to ensure timely and within-budget completion.
- Provide regular status updates to management.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve issues related to gas turbine and combined cycle projects.
- Provide technical support to Application Engineering, Commercial Operations, and Estimation teams.
- Understand lead times for designing, manufacturing, assembling, and commissioning gas turbine and civil/structural scope.
- Support simplification and standardization of product designs for better manufacturability and cost reduction.
- Familiarity with OSHA, AISC, ACI, IBC, and ASCE 7 design codes, industry standards, and best practices.
- Familiarity with STAAD (structural design tool).
- International Travel up to 20%
- Perform other duties as required.
