The Role:
We are seeking a senior-level Building Envelope Consultant to take the lead in launching and growing the firm's envelope services across California. This is a rare opportunity for a driven technical leader to shape a regionally focused team, influence strategic direction, and play a key role in long-term market development. This individual will serve as both a technical expert and business strategist, working closely with executive leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
Establish and lead a California-based Building Envelope group focused on high-performance buildings and complex façades
Build out a pipeline of work by leveraging your existing relationships within the AEC industry
Serve as a technical authority across all phases of building envelope projects-from conceptual design to post-construction evaluation
Oversee the preparation of high-quality technical reports, drawings, and client deliverables
Ensure compliance with local and state building codes and standards
Foster a strong team culture by mentoring junior engineers and consultants
Collaborate with internal leadership on proposals, staffing, budgeting, and strategic planning
Represent the firm in the industry through conferences, speaking engagements, and publications
Qualifications:
Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in building envelope consulting, architecture, or engineering
Professional licensure required (PE or RA)
Demonstrated success in business development and client relationship management
Expertise in enclosure systems including curtain walls, cladding, roofing, and waterproofing
Proficiency in interpreting design documents, specs, and construction drawings
Strong writing and presentation skills
Prior leadership or practice-building experience highly preferred
Must be based in or near a major California metro (Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, San Jose, Sacramento, or Irvine) and willing to work in-office on a regular basis (hybrid considered for one day remote/week)
