About the Client: Located in downtown San Francisco, our client is the go-to firm for a full range of consulting structural engineering services. Their experienced team works closely with architects, developers, and contractors to create imaginative and cost-effective engineering solutions for even the most complex structural design problems. The firm specializes in historic renovation, seismic retrofit, and new building design and is recognized as a leader in the evaluation of buildings damaged due to natural disasters, as well as for providing seismic upgrades to existing structures.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform lateral and gravity analysis and design of structures utilizing wood, steel, masonry, and concrete systems.
  • Prepare project working drawings in collaboration with Junior Engineers, CAD staff, and others.
  • Coordinate projects between clients, consultants, and contractors.
  • Use expertise and independent judgment to review and interpret technical documents from other consultants (geotechnical engineering reports, civil engineering plans, etc.).
  • Review shop drawings for compliance with construction contract documents.
  • Conduct site visits and key structural observations for work in progress.
  • Issue field instructions, change orders, respond to RFIs, and other construction administrative documentation.
  • Collaborate on and prepare engineering reports based on visual inspections of buildings and review of available building drawings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Self-motivated individual with a minimum of 5 years' professional experience in analysis and design of structures for schools, offices, retail stores, warehouses, multi-family housing, large residences, etc.
  • BSCE (or related, specialized degree) required; California CE or SE license preferred.
  • Experience in seismic design and structural design utilizing steel, concrete, wood, light gauge steel, and masonry.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and technical writing skills.
  • Proficiency in structural modeling and design programs (RISA, ETABS, SAFE, SAP, ADAPT).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit is a plus.
  • A team player that is able to work well with a variety of personalities to achieve mutual goals.
