About the Opportunity
My client, a globally recognized employee-owned leader in engineering, procurement, consulting, and construction, is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join their thriving Data Centers team. This is a high-impact role offering the chance to drive critical infrastructure design, lead talented teams, and partner directly with some of the biggest names in the digital world.
As part of a dedicated Data Center practice with deep technical expertise and global reach, you'll design mission-critical facilities while mentoring early-career professionals and contributing to the evolution of design best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the electrical design and delivery of data center projects across North America.
Provide technical guidance on design risk, redundancy, and resiliency.
Collaborate with clients to define needs and tailor solutions that balance performance, scalability, and efficiency.
Mentor and coach junior engineers and designers, supporting career growth and development.
Manage project deliverables, schedules, and quality benchmarks while staying on budget.
Conduct field surveys and support site assessments as needed.
Support business development through scope development and client engagement.
Use tools like Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and BIM 360 for modeling and documentation.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
Minimum 11 years of experience, with at least 3-5 years focused on data center design.
Proficient in Revit and BIM workflows (worksets, templates, phasing, family creation).
Strong understanding of hyperscale, edge, and colocation data center requirements.
Familiarity with tier rating systems and uptime classifications.
Effective communicator, capable of managing both internal teams and external clients.
Ability to lead projects with full accountability for staffing, scheduling, and budget adherence.
Preferred
Advanced experience with power systems (UPS, switchgear, generators, distribution).
Comfortable managing multiple responsibilities in fast-paced, high-impact environments.
Demonstrated success mentoring engineering staff and building strong team culture.
