Forensic Engineer- Trip and Fall
The Company
A highly respected, boutique forensic safety consulting firm is seeking an experienced and motivated Forensic Engineer to lead and support trip and fall investigations across the NYC and greater New York City area. This is a remote-first role with excellent autonomy, ideal for a forensic professional who enjoys hands-on fieldwork, analytical challenges, and contributing to impactful litigation cases.
The Role
Conduct on-site investigations of trip and fall incidents
- Manage and mentor junior forensic engineers
Identify and document hazardous conditions (e.g., walking surfaces, lighting, handrails, obstacles)
Analyze safety, building, and accessibility code compliance (e.g., OSHA, ADA, NYC Building Code)
Take detailed measurements, photographs, and field notes during site visits
Prepare professional forensic reports for use in litigation and expert witness services
Review incident-related documentation such as architectural drawings, floor plans, and maintenance records
Communicate findings clearly to attorneys, clients, and other stakeholders
Manage multiple active cases while maintaining accuracy and deadlines
Collaborate with a small, experienced forensic team
Requirements
3+ years of experience conducting forensic investigations related to trip and fall or premises liability
- PE License preferred but not m
Background in civil, structural, mechanical, or safety engineering
Strong understanding of building codes, accessibility standards, and safety regulations
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Detail-oriented with strong observational and analytical skills
Based in or near the NYC metro area with reliable transportation for site visits
Comfortable working independently and remotely
Occasionally travel to Long Island for team meetings or coordination
