Senior Mechanical Engineer - Fairfax, MD

Location: Fairfax, VA
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $120,000 - $180,000 annually (based on experience)

My client is a long-established, multidisciplinary engineering and architectural firm known for delivering innovative and sustainable design solutions for over 100 years. With a strong track record in government, education, commercial, and transportation sectors, they are looking to add a Senior Mechanical Engineer to their Fairfax, VA office.

This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned engineer to lead meaningful projects, provide technical guidance, and engage with clients on high-impact infrastructure and building systems work.


Key Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership: Lead multidisciplinary teams through all phases of mechanical design, from concept to construction.

  • Mechanical Design: Oversee and develop HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems that meet code and client expectations.

  • Client Collaboration: Interface with clients to understand project goals, present solutions, and manage expectations.

  • Innovation & Quality: Apply cutting-edge technologies to solve design challenges and ensure the highest quality deliverables.

  • Schedule & Budget Management: Maintain project timelines, budgets, and resource coordination.

  • Mentorship: Support junior staff with technical training and career development.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's degree preferred)

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Virginia, or ability to obtain

  • At least 16 years of experience in mechanical engineering design and project management

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and energy modeling tools

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • U.S. Citizenship required

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for current or future visa sponsorship
