Senior Mechanical Engineer - Fairfax, MD

Compensation: $120,000 - $180,000 annually (based on experience)
My client is a long-established, multidisciplinary engineering and architectural firm known for delivering innovative and sustainable design solutions for over 100 years. With a strong track record in government, education, commercial, and transportation sectors, they are looking to add a Senior Mechanical Engineer to their Fairfax, VA office.
This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned engineer to lead meaningful projects, provide technical guidance, and engage with clients on high-impact infrastructure and building systems work.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership: Lead multidisciplinary teams through all phases of mechanical design, from concept to construction.
Mechanical Design: Oversee and develop HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems that meet code and client expectations.
Client Collaboration: Interface with clients to understand project goals, present solutions, and manage expectations.
Innovation & Quality: Apply cutting-edge technologies to solve design challenges and ensure the highest quality deliverables.
Schedule & Budget Management: Maintain project timelines, budgets, and resource coordination.
Mentorship: Support junior staff with technical training and career development.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's degree preferred)
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Virginia, or ability to obtain
At least 16 years of experience in mechanical engineering design and project management
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and energy modeling tools
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
U.S. Citizenship required
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for current or future visa sponsorship
