Controls Engineer - NoVA

This role requires a dynamic individual who is comfortable working in the field and traveling between Washington, D.C., and Maryland. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building automation systems (BAS) and HVAC control systems, with a focus on hands-on implementation, troubleshooting, and client interaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Field Work: Perform on-site installation, programming, and commissioning of building automation systems.
  • System Integration: Integrate various building systems (HVAC, lighting, security) to ensure seamless operation and communication.
  • Troubleshooting and Support: Diagnose and resolve issues related to BAS and HVAC control systems, providing technical support to clients and field technicians.
  • Travel: Regular travel between Washington, D.C., and Maryland to support multiple projects and client sites.
  • Project Management: Assist in planning and executing BAS projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Client Interaction: Work closely with clients to understand their needs, provide training, and ensure satisfaction with the installed systems.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation for all programming and configuration work, including system diagrams and user manuals.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in BAS programming and fieldwork, with a focus on HVAC control systems.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in relevant BAS software (e.g., Distech Controls, Niagara Framework). Strong understanding of HVAC systems and control strategies.
  • Certifications: Relevant BAS certifications preferred.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with clients, engineers, and field technicians.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to troubleshoot complex system issues effectively.
  • Travel: Willingness and ability to travel regularly between Washington, D.C., and Maryland.
