Location: Richmond, Roanoke, or Staunton
My client is seeking a Sr. Construction Inspector with knowledge and experience in construction standards and practices. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of experience performing construction inspection within Virginia, including work for VDOT. The Sr. Construction Inspector will have all the responsibilities of a Construction Inspector, plus additional duties.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor contractor operations for compliance with contract terms and specifications on VDOT projects.
- Independently coordinate and direct all phases of construction inspection.
- Coordinate and schedule various phases of construction with the prime contractor and agency personnel.
- Review and monitor contractor plans and advise on violations.
- Make field measurements of pay items and conduct material testing.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive project records.
- Aid in the development of work orders and analysis of Notices of Intent.
- Evaluate and monitor progress schedules and perform work order analysis.
- Serve as Lead Inspector for a team of inspectors as needed.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of highway construction inspection experience.
- Strong experience with roadway, structure, and bridge construction/maintenance/repair/rehabilitation methods, materials, standards, and specifications.
- In-depth knowledge of VDOT Road and Bridge Specifications, Standards, Construction Manual, and Inspector Manual.
- VDOT certifications related to concrete, pavement, drainage, asphalt, and other inspection areas.
- Understanding of state and federal environmental, safety, and Equal Employment Opportunity guidelines and regulations.
- Proficiency in providing technical supervision and leadership, preparing for and conducting project-related meetings, applying mathematical formulas and field management principles, and preparing effective correspondence.
