Job Summary
We are seeking a seasoned Project Manager with 10+ years of experience to lead major water infrastructure construction projects in the Detroit metro area. This role is firmly rooted on the general contracting side of project delivery - not engineering or design - and requires deep knowledge of heavy civil construction, subcontractor coordination, self-performed work, and public sector project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the full lifecycle of construction projects in water infrastructure - including water/wastewater treatment, stormwater systems, utility tunnels, and pump stations.
Manage budgets, schedules, field operations, safety compliance, and subcontractor performance.
Oversee subcontractor buyout, procurement, and negotiations in alignment with project goals.
Coordinate directly with superintendents and self-perform crews to ensure high-quality execution.
Represent the company in all construction-related discussions with owners, municipal agencies, and third-party inspectors.
Ensure projects meet or exceed compliance requirements, safety standards, and local workforce participation goals.
Collaborate closely with preconstruction and estimating teams during bidding and planning.
Participate in project close-out, punch list resolution, and turnover documentation.
Qualifications
Minimum 10 years of experience in general contracting, preferably in water infrastructure or heavy civil projects.
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline preferred (non-engineering backgrounds with field experience welcome).
Proven leadership in managing complex public infrastructure construction projects from ground-breaking to completion.
Knowledge of water/wastewater systems, trenchless technologies, dewatering, and environmental compliance.
Strong familiarity with city, county, and state-level public construction contracts and processes.
Advanced skills in construction scheduling (MS Project, Primavera), field documentation (Procore or similar), and cost control.
Why Join Us?
Be part of Detroit's transformation through high-impact public infrastructure.
Work with a company known for its self-perform capabilities and award-winning project delivery.
