About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Distribution Planning Engineer to support growing project needs across the utility and consulting sectors. This role offers flexibility, leadership opportunities, and the chance to work with industry-leading tools and clients across the U.S.
You'll play a key role in distribution system analysis, planning studies, and helping guide the future of modern electrical grids.
Responsibilities:
- Perform distribution system planning studies including load forecasting, voltage analysis, protection coordination, and DER (Distributed Energy Resources) integration.
- Conduct technical assessments using tools such as CYME or Synergi.
- Analyze system capacity, identify reliability improvements, and propose system upgrades.
- Prepare and deliver technical reports and presentations to internal teams and clients.
- Collaborate closely with utilities and consulting partners on a variety of projects.
- Support or lead small project teams, with potential to engage in business development and client interactions.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in distribution planning within utilities, consulting, or related sectors.
- Proficient in distribution planning software, particularly CYME or Synergi Electric.
- Solid understanding of U.S. distribution system standards, operations, and planning practices.
- Ability to manage work independently and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Strong communication and technical writing skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (Master's a plus).
Nice to Have:
- Exposure to Distributed Energy Resources (DER) planning and hosting capacity analysis.
- Business development experience or leadership aspirations.
