Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Structural Design: Perform structural engineering design and calculations compliant with applicable codes and standards.
- Project Management: Serve as project manager, overseeing the design and construction of structures, including new and existing buildings and bridges.
- Collaboration: Engage in communications and collaboration with clients, architects, and designers to ensure project goals and scopes are met.
- Documentation: Draft and create construction documents for permits, ensuring they meet jurisdictional requirements.
- Review: Review drawings, calculations, and construction documents created by support staff to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Problem-Solving: Actively engage in problem-solving and pursue new methods for solving structural engineering challenges.
- Reporting: Write investigative and field reports for inspections and review reports completed by support staff.
- Client Interaction: Work with clients to ensure projects meet their goals and needs, communicating necessary adjustments to management and teams.
- Mentorship: Supervise, manage, and mentor support staff engineers, engineers-in-training (EIT), and drafters.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 8+ years of experience in structural engineering, including structural design and condition assessment.
- Education: BS in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- Licensing: Professional Engineering License required.
- Skills: Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., ETABS, SAP, RISA, RAM, SAFE) and drafting/modeling software (AutoCAD, Revit).
- Communication: Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
