What You'll Do
As the Lead Operations Engineer, you'll be the driving force behind the performance, reliability, and continuous improvement of a growing renewable energy fleet. This is a high-stakes, high-impact role where your decisions will directly influence the performance and success of utility-scale solar and battery storage assets across the country.
- Own the performance of the fleet, ensuring maximum up-time, efficiency, and system resilience at scale.
- Lead the charge in troubleshooting and root cause analysis (RCA) to quickly identify and resolve performance issues from inverter failures to grid-side challenges. When things go wrong, you'll be the one to figure out why and make it better.
- Take control of major repairs and upgrades. You'll negotiate complex RFPs for repairs, repowering, and retrofits, ensuring the highest quality outcomes and best-in-class results.
- Make critical engineering decisions on repairs, upgrades, and asset optimization to drive long-term operational success and extend the life of the assets.
- Leverage SCADA systems and advanced analytics to monitor, evaluate, and improve performance across multiple sites, translating data into actionable insights.
- Ensure safety, compliance, and operational excellence. You'll uphold industry-leading EHS standards and drive a zero-incident culture on every site.
- Mentor and lead across teams, working alongside construction, asset management, and junior engineers to ensure seamless operations and project success.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (required)
- 7+ years of experience in utility-scale solar, wind, or battery energy storage projects
- In-depth knowledge of EHS regulations and a track record of maintaining safe and reliable operations
- Expertise in identifying and solving common performance issues in solar and BESS systems (inverter failures, system degradation, or storage integration challenges)
- Proficiency in SCADA platforms and monitoring tools (e.g., AlsoEnergy, PVSyst, PI), and data tools like Power BI and Excel to turn performance data into real, actionable results
- Strong commercial awareness. You'll confidently navigate complex technical and contractual negotiations to secure the best outcomes
- Willingness to travel (~25%), with the flexibility to ramp up to 50% when key issues require your expertise on-site

- Certifications such as PE, PMP, or NABCEP
- Experience with repowering initiatives or system performance upgrades
- Familiarity with ISO/RTO compliance in energy markets such as CAISO, ERCOT, or PJM
- OSHA 30 or equivalent safety training
