Electrical BIM Lead
Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical BIM Lead to join our growing team. As the Electrical BIM Lead, you will oversee and manage the development and coordination of Building Information Models (BIM) for complex electrical construction projects, with a focus on mission-critical initiatives. This role will require extensive interaction with project management, engineering teams, field superintendents, and stakeholders to ensure accurate and efficient model creation, coordination, and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
BIM Development and Coordination:
Lead the creation and management of Building Information Models (BIM) for electrical systems on mission-critical projects.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure models are accurate, efficient, and aligned with project goals.
Develop installation drawings, models, redlines, and other documentation to support project workflows.
Model and Workflow Management:
Establish and maintain BIM standards, execution plans, and project setups throughout the project lifecycle.
Perform clash detection and resolution using tools like Navisworks and Revit.
Ensure that models are signed off and clash-free before installation and construction milestones.
Identify and address scheduling conflicts and red flags, including:
Sign-offs after installation due dates.
Clashes in signed-off models.
RFIs affecting BIM that require resolution.
Documentation and Reporting:
Create and maintain installation drawing logs and project documentation.
Generate 2D installation drawings and detailed drawings from 3D models or sketches.
Ensure adherence to NEC standards and project specifications through thorough QA/QC processes.
Training and Team Development:
Provide training and support to team members on BIM processes, software, and standards.
Mentor junior team members to ensure consistency and quality in modeling and drafting.
Develop and refine company BIM standards and best practices.
Collaboration and Communication:
Attend clash detection and internal project meetings as required.
Facilitate cross-discipline collaboration to ensure seamless integration of electrical models with other project components.
Required Skills and Competencies:
Technical Expertise:
Proficiency in BIM software such as Revit, Navisworks, and AutoCAD.
Skilled with associated tools like ACC DMS (Document Management System), Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), BlueBeam, SharePoint, and Revit Server.
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, construction processes, and the National Electrical Code (NEC).
Ability to assess constructability and make recommendations based on industry best practices.
Leadership and Collaboration:
Proven ability to lead BIM coordination efforts across multidisciplinary teams.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, fostering teamwork and efficiency.
Organizational and Problem-Solving Skills:
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve BIM-related challenges effectively.
