The Role: Our client is seeking a talented Structural Engineer to join the team in their Albany office. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and developing structural systems for both new and existing buildings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design structural systems using Concrete, Masonry, Structural Steel, Cold-formed Steel, and Wood.
- Develop Foundation and Retaining Wall designs.
- Evaluate and rehabilitate existing buildings for structural and seismic integrity.
- Create retrofit and strengthening designs for structures that need improvement.
- Conduct feasibility and cost studies for structural systems.
- Prepare detailed drawings and specifications for various structural systems.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Building Codes.
- Review and approve submittals, shop drawings, and material samples.
- Perform site visits to assess existing conditions, observe construction, and ensure design compliance.
- Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and building owners to achieve project success.
- Stay informed about the latest technologies and industry standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or a related field.
- Relevant coursework in structural design.
- Strong verbal, written, and computer skills.
- Ability to work effectively under time constraints.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit is advantageous.
- Interest in innovative design, especially in renewable energies and sustainable, high-performance buildings.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and learn from Senior Engineers.
- Confident in engaging directly with clients and industry professionals.
