Project Manager, Solar
A leading EPC is looking for a Project Manager to provide solar engineering services to renewable energy clients. Qualified candidates will be experienced in design, construction, commissioning, diagnosis, testing, and troubleshooting of renewable energy projects including engineered equipment and balance of plant. The project scope will range from project development, due diligence of existing project developments, RFP development, bid phase support, design reviews, and performance testing support. Additionally, this role requires regular interaction and communication with customers and key stakeholders. The individual will also need to visit project sites, customer facilities, supplier locations, and undertake other travel to support business growth.

Responsibilities:
- Lead proposal efforts for renewable energy engineering services, including solar and energy storage projects.
- Develop scope, schedule, and budget for proposals; negotiate adjustments with clients upon project award.
- Coordinate with permitting authorities, customers, and design leads to ensure solutions meet project standards.
- Oversee a multi-disciplinary engineering team to complete necessary tasks.
- Set and maintain project schedules, monitor progress, and manage teams to meet deadlines.
- Establish and manage project budgets; create and request Change Order documents as needed.
- Act as the primary liaison between clients and the technical team.
- Handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Coordinate with discipline leads to develop site plans, racking plans, building plans, one-line drawings, BOP plans, substation plans, and other required engineering documents.
- Manage the approved bidders list, prepare requests for proposals, manage bid tabulations, and evaluate total installed costs for procurements.
- Provide detailed project information and bills of material for estimating purposes.
- Enhance efficiency in bid efforts by utilizing software and implementing best practices.
- Stay updated on emerging solar technologies, including pricing and commercial information.
- Participate in industry conferences and publications to enhance the company's presence in the renewable energy market, including developing white papers and presenting at conferences.
- Conduct project status meetings with clients as needed.
- Travel to client offices and project sites as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferably electrical, chemical, or mechanical)
- 7+ years of relevant experience, including a minimum of 3 years in managing engineering projects.
- Strong preference for candidates with consulting engineering experience.
- Experience in project development, project management, or renewable energy is advantageous.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to employees, management, and clients at all levels.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to quickly learn, understand, and apply new technologies in the dynamic renewable energy market.
- Proficiency in using IT tools to streamline work processes.
- Preferred experience in estimating or designing electrical systems.
- Familiarity with PVSyst and competence in its use is preferred.
- Knowledge of photovoltaic systems, NEC requirements, and construction practices is desirable.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, often within tight schedules.
- Strong prioritization and execution skills in high-pressure environments, ensuring project schedules and deadlines are met.
