Location: Austin, Texas
Job Description:
The Office Lead will oversee transportation design projects for clients such as TxDOT, cities, counties, and toll entities. This role requires a strong background in Texas roadway design engineering and the ability to coordinate with multiple disciplines, including roadway drainage, structures, and survey. Extensive knowledge of TxDOT Specifications and the TxDOT Roadway Design Manual is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of professionals in a dynamic engineering environment, managing projects from various delivery methods, including conventional publicly bid projects and design-build.
- Develop engineering documents that meet clients' goals and objectives while adhering to schedule commitments and budget requirements.
- Manage and develop engineering designs, including geometric alignments, profiles, cross sections, construction sequencing, and maintenance of traffic details.
- Create engineering documents such as Typical Section Packages, Pavement Design Reports, and Variation/Exception Reports.
- Coordinate with clients and team members, prepare meeting notes, invoices, and progress reports.
- Perform quality control reviews and oversee the preparation of construction quantity estimates.
- Review and seal projects, supervising the work of other engineers.
- Represent the company in professional, civic, and political organizations and activities.
- Pursue additional work from existing and new clients, preparing pursuit materials and coordinating with discipline leads.
- Actively participate in and contribute to our employee-owned culture.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or equivalent from an ABET/EAC accredited program.
- Texas Professional Engineering registration, or the ability to acquire it within 6 months.
- Demonstrated 18+ years of progressively responsible experience in roadway design and planning, including leading an engineering team.
- Strong preference for experience with TxDOT transportation projects
- Proficiency with MicroStation, GEOPAK, and/or OpenRoads.
- Ability to prepare contracts, scopes of services, and fee estimates in accordance with TxDOT standard practices and requirements.
