Project Manager

A well-established and highly regarded subcontractor in the heavy civil construction industry is currently seeking an experienced Project Manager to join its growing team. Known for delivering large-scale site development, utility, and environmental remediation projects, the company prides itself on performance, integrity, and a commitment to quality.

Position Summary

The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing multiple active site and utility projects from pre-construction through completion. This role is best suited for a candidate with at least 5 years of experience managing jobs as a subcontractor, particularly in straight site work such as excavation, grading, and underground utilities. Experience as a General Contractor PM does not align with the nature of this role.

This is not a field management position - the company's Foremen and Superintendents oversee on-site activities - but the Project Manager will be deeply involved in day-to-day project operations, both in the office and during job site visits. The ideal candidate is organized, solutions-oriented, and able to manage the details without losing sight of the bigger picture.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple heavy civil construction projects from start to finish

  • Coordinate closely with clients, engineers, vendors, and field personnel

  • Maintain accurate project budgets, schedules, and documentation

  • Prepare and track RFIs, submittals, purchase orders, and change orders

  • Support project planning and execution, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery

  • Facilitate communication between field and office operations

  • Visit jobsites regularly to monitor progress and address any issues

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing site work projects as a subcontractor

  • Demonstrated success with excavation, utility installation, and grading projects

  • Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Bluebeam)

  • Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred

  • OSHA 30 certification preferred

  • Candidates at the mid to senior level are encouraged to apply; individuals with strong experience and high potential will also be considered

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary range

  • Opportunity for higher compensation for senior-level candidates

  • Performance-based bonuses

  • Comprehensive benefits package (health, dental, vision, 401(k))

  • Professional development and internal advancement opportunities

  • Collaborative, team-oriented work environment
