Mechanical Design Engineer

Mechanical Engineer - Cincinnati Office
(Full-Time | On-Site | Mid-Level to Senior)

We are seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer to join our Cincinnati office. The ideal candidate is passionate about designing innovative, energy-efficient systems and enjoys working in a collaborative, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support mechanical (HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection) design efforts on a variety of building projects, including education, healthcare, commercial, and government facilities.

  • Perform mechanical load calculations, energy modeling, system layouts, and equipment selection.

  • Prepare high-quality construction documents (plans and specifications) using Revit and AutoCAD.

  • Coordinate mechanical designs with in-house electrical, plumbing, and fire protection teams, as well as with external architects and structural engineers.

  • Conduct site visits, surveys, and field investigations during design and construction phases.

  • Provide construction administration support, including reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFIs, and conducting punch list inspections.

  • Participate in project meetings with clients, contractors, and consultants.

  • Support commissioning activities by helping verify system performance.

  • Stay current with industry standards, sustainability initiatives (such as LEED or WELL), and new technologies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering (mechanical systems focus) from an accredited institution.

  • 3-7 years of relevant experience in mechanical building systems design.

  • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and engineering software tools such as Trane Trace, Carrier HAP, or similar load analysis programs.

  • Strong understanding of building codes and industry standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, IMC, IPC).

  • EIT certification required; PE license or pursuit of PE licensure highly preferred.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Experience:

  • Knowledge of sustainable design practices and familiarity with LEED certification processes.

  • Experience working on K-12, higher education, government, healthcare, or corporate projects.
