Position Overview:
We are seeking a Controls Operations Manager to oversee and drive operational excellence across building automation projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong leadership background, deep technical knowledge of BAS and controls, and a solid understanding of the Alabama market - particularly the Birmingham area.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage daily operations for the controls team across Alabama.
Oversee project execution from initiation through closeout, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
Provide mentorship and direction to project managers, engineers, and field technicians.
Collaborate with sales, design, and service teams to ensure a seamless customer experience.
Optimize operational processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
Maintain strong relationships with local vendors, contractors, and clients.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
Participate in workforce planning, recruitment, and talent development initiatives.
Report directly to the executive leadership team with updates on KPIs, operational challenges, and strategic plans.
Qualifications:
5+ years of leadership experience in building automation, HVAC controls, or related industries.
Strong technical background with building automation systems (e.g., Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Siemens, Schneider, Tridium/Niagara, etc.).
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and teams effectively.
Familiarity with the Alabama commercial construction and building automation market.
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
Willingness to travel within Alabama as needed.
