Job Description: Senior Mechanical Engineer
This role offers the chance to design cutting-edge facilities in manufacturing, oil & gas, water treatment, and power sectors. We are looking for a self-driven individual with excellent communication skills and a passion for applying professional expertise in a collaborative environment on technically challenging and rewarding projects. You will be part of a team working on projects that ensure client success today while helping them leverage emerging technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of mechanical codes and standards.
- Complete design duties including:
- Develop concepts for HVAC, mechanical, fire protection, and piping systems.
- Perform mechanical design calculations, including HVAC equipment sizing and pipe sizing.
- Create P&IDs and Block Flow Diagrams.
- Formulate design criteria for project specifications and drawings.
- Generate specifications for systems and equipment.
- Provide quality oversight for mechanical designs performed by others.
- Serve as the main point of contact for the mechanical discipline in meetings with the project manager, other discipline leads, and the customer.
- Train and mentor less experienced engineers and designers.
- Coordinate details and miscellaneous design criteria with other disciplines.
- Generate mechanical engineering hour estimates for ongoing work and new proposals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, particularly on heavy industrial and manufacturing projects.
- Strong understanding and knowledge of industry codes and standards (ANSI, ASME, IBC, ISO, NFPA).
- Proficiency in mechanical design software.
- Experience leading a project team of engineers and designers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite, including MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to perform field/site visits.
- Willingness to travel (estimated travel time is 10%).
