Senior Economist

A leading research organization is seeking a Healthcare and Life Sciences Specialist to enhance its capabilities in providing high-quality and innovative economic analysis for litigation and regulatory matters in the healthcare, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and medical devices industries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Case Contribution: Collaborate with case teams, experts, and clients to deliver high-quality outcomes. Participate in brainstorming, issue spotting, and outlining potential analyses. Lead teams in applying both common and innovative analytical tools, adapting them to specific case needs. Conduct reviews of data, academic research, and methodologies.
  • Research Expansion: Incorporate and expand research capabilities with cutting-edge techniques. Ensure approaches are at the forefront of academia and industry. Develop tools to improve project efficiency and cost-effectiveness, such as data processing automation or relevant databases.
  • Data and Regulation Advisory: Serve as an internal expert on data sources and the regulatory landscape. Advise teams on appropriate public and third-party data sources (e.g., IQVIA, Medicare and Medicaid data), regulatory details (e.g., FDA approval requirements), and government programs (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid). Build knowledge of emerging data sources.
  • Knowledge Sharing and Training: Educate teams and contribute to the dissemination of case experience. Develop reusable case resources and training materials on analytical approaches, data sources, and regulations. Share best practices and innovative techniques.
  • Thought Leadership: Contribute to public-facing thought leadership articles and presentations at conferences, webinars, and other venues.
  • Business Development: Develop marketing materials, conduct expert searches, and assist in preparing materials showcasing the organization's capabilities. Prepare experts for promotional calls and participate in client and expert calls. Engage with experts through conferences and one-on-one relationship development. Conduct external marketing, including client presentations on key HCLS topics.

Qualifications:

  • Strong entrepreneurial attitude, effective teamwork, and ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent time management and ability to handle multiple competing priorities.
  • Advanced degree (Ph.D., ABD, or Master's) in Economics, Public Health, or Policy Analysis.
  • Four or more years of experience in data-intensive research and analytics in the healthcare and life sciences fields.
