Estimator
Job Summary: The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for civil construction projects related to electric utility substations. This role involves analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare material and subcontractor take-offs for bid projects. The Estimator will work closely with project teams, vendors, and other departments to ensure successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates.
- Perform material and subcontractor take-offs for bid projects.
- Utilize estimating software (e.g., Bid2Win) to prepare and deliver bids.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure accurate and timely bid submissions.
- Prepare subcontracts and purchase orders for projects.
- Assist operations in administrative duties related to project execution.
- Maintain up-to-date job logs and bid tracking information.
- Provide support for improving bid processes and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in estimating civil construction projects, preferably within the electric utility sector.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bid2Win).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Bluebeam and HeavyBid software.
- Experience with overhead and underground electric distribution construction.
- Familiarity with substation construction and maintenance.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
