Job Title: Water Resources Engineer

Job Overview:
Our client is looking for a highly skilled and motivated Water Resources Engineer with expertise in FEMA MT-2 work to join their dynamic team. As part of a specialized team, you will be integral in the development and management of floodplain mapping, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, and ensuring regulatory compliance with FEMA's Mapping and Technical Assistance Program (MT-2). Your work will directly contribute to improving flood risk management and community resilience efforts, making a tangible impact on public safety.

Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the development and management of floodplain mapping and hydrologic and hydraulic modeling under FEMA's MT-2 program.
- Provide technical support and ensure compliance with FEMA guidelines and regulations.
- Collaborate with teams to deliver flood risk management solutions that enhance community resilience and safety.
- Assist with the completion of tasks related to floodplain modeling, regulatory documentation, and technical assistance.
- Analyze and manage data using common platforms to support water resources and floodplain management efforts.
- Communicate effectively with clients and team members, ensuring project milestones and deadlines are met.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Civil, Coastal, or Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or the ability to pass the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam (within 18 months of hire).
- A minimum of 5 years of related experience in water resources engineering.
- Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally as needed, depending on project demands.
- Equivalent additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with floodplain modeling, hydraulic modeling, and in-stream or civil design.
- Experience with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, ArcGIS, and AutoCAD is preferred.
- Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) certification.
- Professional Engineering License (PE) preferred.
- Strong writing, communication, and teamwork skills.
Skills and Abilities:
- U.S. citizenship required to obtain a FEMA Badge (Public Trust position).
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and customer service orientation.
- Strong written and oral communication abilities.
- Ability to adapt quickly to change and maintain flexibility in a dynamic work environment.
Travel:
- Occasional travel (up to 5%) may be required based on project needs.
