Position Overview:
Our client is looking for a Water Resources Engineer with at least 6 years of experience, specializing in preparing and reviewing project submittals for the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). The ideal candidate will have proficiency in hydraulic modeling, hydrologic calculations, stormwater mapping, and regulatory compliance. As a key member of the team, you'll use your expertise to work on impactful projects that address flood risk and stormwater management challenges. Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review project submittals for the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
- Conduct hydraulic modeling and hydrologic calculations for flood risk assessments and stormwater management solutions.
- Utilize ArcGIS and other software to create stormwater maps and analyze water flow patterns.
- Ensure project designs and reports adhere to local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical guidance on water resources projects, ensuring high standards of quality and accuracy.
- Collaborate with clients, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure project goals and deadlines are met.
- Assist in the preparation of technical reports, proposals, and presentations for clients and regulatory bodies.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 6 years of experience in water resources engineering, including experience with NFIP submittals.
- Strong proficiency in hydraulic modeling, hydrologic calculations, and stormwater mapping.
- Proficient in ArcGIS and other stormwater management software.
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory compliance and technical standards related to water resources.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure or the ability to obtain it.
- Experience with local Northern Virginia water resources regulations and infrastructure.
- Familiarity with floodplain management and stormwater modeling software.
