Position Overview
We are seeking a Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Manager to lead our VDC/BIM initiatives for large-scale construction projects. This role involves managing the implementation of VDC strategies and ensuring effective collaboration across project teams. The position is based in Tampa, Florida, and provides opportunities for mentorship and career advancement into senior management roles. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical systems, exceptional communication skills, and a detail-oriented approach to problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and oversee the VDC/BIM execution plan for new projects, ensuring alignment with project requirements and industry standards.
- Conduct clash detection using advanced modeling software to identify and resolve design conflicts in the planning stages.
- Collaborate closely with project teams, engineers, and subcontractors to maintain and deliver compliant and coordinated mechanical designs.
- Set up and manage projects in Revit, Navisworks, and other relevant software tools.
- Perform regular site visits to interact with stakeholders and ensure effective project representation.
- Facilitate BIM coordination meetings, tracking action items and ensuring resolution of design-related RFIs (Requests for Information).
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, engineers, inspectors, and vendors throughout the project lifecycle.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience in VDC/BIM, particularly in mechanical systems.
- Proficient in VDC technologies and software, including Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, and Bluebeam.
- Experience in clash detection and resolution, with a solid understanding of construction documentation processes.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills, with an ability to work effectively under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative attitude, ensuring positive interactions with team members and clients.
