We are seeking a skilled VDC (Virtual Design and Construction) Manager with a focus on mechanical systems to lead and manage our VDC efforts in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design and coordination within the construction industry, overseeing the integration of virtual modeling with field execution.
Key Responsibilities:
VDC Management:
- Lead the development and implementation of VDC processes for mechanical systems in large-scale projects.
- Collaborate with project teams to integrate mechanical designs into overall project models, ensuring accuracy and constructability.
Coordination and Collaboration:
- Facilitate coordination between mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) teams, design engineers, and construction staff.
- Conduct clash detection and resolution through software platforms such as Navisworks and Revit.
Modeling and Simulation:
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of 3D models for mechanical systems, ensuring they align with project specifications and timelines.
- Utilize BIM tools to simulate mechanical system performance and address potential issues before construction begins.
Team Leadership:
- Manage and mentor a team of VDC/BIM specialists, providing training and development opportunities.
- Establish workflows and best practices to optimize team efficiency and project outcomes.
Technical Expertise:
- Stay updated on advancements in VDC technologies, particularly for mechanical systems, and implement improvements as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, standards, and company policies related to mechanical design and construction.
Client Engagement:
- Present VDC strategies and progress to clients and stakeholders, ensuring alignment with project goals.
- Provide technical insights and recommendations to enhance client satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in VDC/BIM with a focus on mechanical systems.
- Proficiency in BIM software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks, or similar).
- Strong understanding of mechanical system design, construction, and installation.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in large-scale commercial or industrial projects is preferred.
