Location: La Crosse, Wisconsin
The Substation Structural Engineer is responsible for the engineering and design of transmission and distribution substations' physical/structural components. In a team setting, you will solve problems, providing ongoing technical support both internally and externally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently engineer and design high and medium voltage substations, including layouts, equipment, elevations, cable systems, foundations, and AC/DC power systems.
- Apply industry standards and safety codes such as RUS, OSHA, ANSI, NEC, and NESC.
- Prepare and update material and equipment specifications; collaborate with purchasing and project management to acquire necessary materials.
- Work with technical and field teams to address issues, design changes, and schedule adjustments.
- Assist in creating project scopes, cost estimates, and schedules for capital and maintenance projects.
- Perform engineering calculations for substation design, such as equipment ratings and bus calculations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Three years of experience in substation design or structural design.
- Knowledge of project estimating and engineering economics.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification preferred.
