Position Title: Underground Utility/Pipe Superintendent

Salary: $140,000- $180,000 + Bonus(s)

Job Summary:
This leading general contractor is seeking a skilled and experienced Underground Utility/Pipe Superintendent to oversee the installation and maintenance of underground utility systems and piping for their construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing underground utility projects, excellent leadership abilities, and a deep understanding of industry standards and safety regulations. This role is crucial for ensuring the successful execution of projects from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate all activities related to the installation and maintenance of underground utilities and piping systems, including water, sewer, storm drains, and other infrastructure.
- Manage daily operations on job sites, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
- Oversee and direct field crews, subcontractors, and equipment, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, construction codes, and company policies.
- Review project plans, specifications, and schedules to ensure accurate execution and timely completion of work.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve any problems and ensure project requirements are met.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, work logs, and safety records.
- Manage inventory and procurement of materials and equipment required for the projects.
- Foster a positive work environment and promote teamwork and effective communication among all project personnel.
Experience Needed:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in supervising underground utility and piping projects, including experience with water, sewer, storm drains, and related systems.
- Proven track record of successfully managing projects from inception to completion.
- Strong understanding of underground utility installation methods, materials, and industry regulations.
- Experience in managing field crews and coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Familiarity with construction safety practices and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications Needed:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in construction or a related field preferred.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA certification, Heavy Equipment Operator License) are a plus.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and familiarity with project management software.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites within the Portland, OR area.
