Job Title: Traffic/ITS Engineer
Location: Houston / San Antonio / Dallas
Our client is seeking a talented and experienced Traffic/Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Engineer to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of traffic and ITS solutions that improve transportation efficiency, safety, and sustainability. This role involves working collaboratively with project teams, stakeholders, and public agencies to deliver high-quality infrastructure solutions that meet industry standards and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Traffic Engineering and ITS Design: Develop and design ITS solutions, including advanced traffic management systems, adaptive signal control, vehicle detection, traveler information systems, and other innovative traffic engineering technologies.
- Data Analysis: Analyze traffic flow, congestion, and crash data to identify patterns and areas for improvement, and use data-driven insights to inform project planning and design.
- Project Management: Coordinate with cross-functional teams and manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure project milestones are met efficiently and on time.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with public agencies, clients, and internal teams to gather requirements, provide updates, and address concerns.
- Technical Documentation: Prepare technical reports, design drawings, specifications, and proposals while ensuring compliance with applicable engineering standards and best practices.
- Field Support: Oversee field installations, testing, and troubleshooting of ITS systems to ensure optimal functionality and quality control.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field. Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in traffic engineering and/or ITS.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in traffic modeling and simulation software (e.g., Synchro, VISSIM, or similar), AutoCAD, and GIS software. Familiarity with CAV (connected and autonomous vehicle) technology is a plus.
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, with experience in data collection, statistical analysis, and interpretation of traffic studies.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Certifications: PTOE or similar traffic engineering certification is advantageous.
