Technical Project Manager - Carbon/NBS - Based Remotely
Our client is a global organization dedicated to developing and implementing high-integrity nature-based carbon projects that benefit people, nature, and the climate. Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of nature-based solutions (NBS) projects, including hands-on technical tasks.
- Technical Expertise: Provide guidance to project managers and analysts in developing and implementing carbon NBS projects.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain relationships with key stakeholders such as clients, partners, government agencies, and local communities.
- Research and Analysis: Keep up with the latest research, market trends, and best practices in NBS, integrating findings into project planning. Communicate standards and methodology requirements internally and externally.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor project performance, assess impacts, and prepare detailed reports for internal and external audiences.
- Team Leadership: Manage a cross-functional international team, fostering collaboration and ensuring project milestones are met. Mentor and train employees, including project officers, and enhance the understanding of non-technical staff.
Key Skillsets and Experience:
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in managing environmental projects, with a focus on NBS or carbon project management
- Strong experience managing the full life cycle of NBS carbon projects.
- Experience with all stages of Gold Standard and Verified Carbon Standard projects.
- Technical skills in statistical analysis, remote sensing, carbon modeling, and/or forest biometrics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
- Experience with GIS and remote sensing technologies is a plus.
- Strategic thinker with a collaborative mindset, capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
- Leadership style focused on empowering staff to grow and guiding them to pursue the right goals and scale for their impact.
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, sustainability, forestry, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
