A leading mechanical contractor in the DFW area is seeking an experienced Take-Off Estimator with a strong background in piping systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing accurate quantity take-offs, assisting in bid preparation, and ensuring cost-effective material procurement. This role requires expertise in mechanical piping systems for commercial and industrial projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed piping take-offs, including materials, labor, and equipment, from project blueprints and specifications.
- Work closely with the estimating team to develop competitive and accurate bids.
- Utilize Trimble, AutoBid, and other industry-specific software for take-offs and estimating.
- Review project documents to ensure alignment with mechanical scope and client requirements.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities, potential risks, and value engineering options.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to support project execution.
- Maintain and update material pricing databases to ensure accurate cost estimations.
Qualifications & Experience
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical estimating, with a focus on piping take-offs.
- Experience working with a mechanical contractor in the commercial or industrial sector.
- Proficiency in Trimble, AutoBid, and/or Revit MEP is preferred.
- Strong understanding of mechanical piping systems, materials, and installation methods.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and project specifications.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience estimating piping systems for healthcare, industrial, or data center projects.
- Knowledge of local building codes and mechanical standards in Texas.
- Familiarity with additional estimating software is a plus.
