We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Superintendent to lead our heavy civil construction projects in Columbia, South Carolina. The Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our construction sites, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety regulations. Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage all field operations on heavy civil construction projects, including highways, bridges, site development, and utility work.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure that project goals, schedules, and budgets are met.
- Lead, mentor, and manage field crews to ensure work is performed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with industry standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections and oversee the quality of work, ensuring adherence to contract specifications and drawings.
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, tracking progress, identifying delays, and implementing corrective actions when necessary.
- Monitor and enforce safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel.
- Manage daily reports, work logs, and other documentation as required for project tracking and compliance.
- Procure and manage materials and equipment, ensuring availability and proper maintenance.
- Communicate effectively with clients, project stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to address project needs and concerns.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to construction activities.
- Assist in the preparation and submission of project reports, budgets, and progress updates.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a superintendent or supervisory role in heavy civil construction, with a focus on roadways, bridges, utilities, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, techniques, and materials used in heavy civil construction.
- Proven track record of successfully managing projects from inception to completion, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and contracts.
- Knowledge of local building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
- Proficiency in construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- OSHA 30-hour certification or equivalent safety training preferred.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to walk, stand, and work on construction sites for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when necessary.
- Must be able to work in varying weather conditions and at elevated heights as required.
