Structural Project Manager
Position Overview:
LVI Associates is representing a leading engineering firm in their search for a highly skilled and motivated Structural Project Manager. They specialize in comprehensive structural engineering planning and design services, including but not limited to structural building and bridge design, structural renovations and retrofits, re-purpose/re-use studies, structural assessments, long-range master planning, maintenance planning, and forensic investigations. Their engineers have extensive experience and knowledge of structural engineering for education (K-12 and Higher Ed), commercial, religious, healthcare, sports & entertainment, hospitality, retail, and federal/government projects.
In this role, you will manage the overall structural team in their engineering and drafting tasks for various projects. You will provide structural design, either directly or indirectly, to other members of the project team and serve as the primary conduit for all project coordination tasks internally within the structural team and externally with other disciplines, including architecture, MEP, and more. You will also manage the project during the Construction Administration Phase, reviewing and managing shop drawings, RFIs, site visits, and OAC meetings as needed. Responsibilities:
- Lead coordination meetings with various disciplines and participate in design review sessions with supervisors, clients, and owners.
- Engage in work sessions with owner-client agencies to discuss project scope and structural design methodologies.
- Oversee the design and documentation process to ensure timely completion of construction documents within budget constraints.
- Develop and maintain structural specifications, select construction procedures, determine materials and member sizes, and perform necessary design calculations.
- Review and manage shop drawings, RFIs, change proposal requests, and change orders, incorporating changes into project documents as needed.
- Communicate design and coordination details effectively to project team members through written and verbal means, and author comprehensive engineering reports, memos, and email correspondence.
- Conduct site observations and walks during construction, providing detailed reports based on findings.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a Structural emphasis. A Master's degree is preferred.
- Structural Engineering license, S.E. in your state of residence, if applicable.
- A minimum of 5+ years of full-time progressive structural engineering experience is required.
- Three or more years of experience in multi-discipline project team leadership preferred.
- For California positions, experience working with the California Division of the State Architects (DSA) is highly desired.
- Strong understanding of state building codes and all applicable design codes including ASCE, AISC, ACI, MSJC, NDS, etc.
- Proficiency in common structural engineering and office tools including ETABS, SAFE, RISA, RAM, ENERCALC, Excel, Bluebeam, etc.
- Proficiency in the design of various structural materials including steel, concrete, masonry, wood, etc.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
