This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with a minimum of 10 years of experience, exceptional client interaction skills, and a proven ability to build and grow a business.
Position Overview: Our client is seeking a highly skilled Structural Forensic Engineer to conduct detailed investigations of structural failures and damages, prepare comprehensive reports, and provide expert testimony. The successful candidate will have a strong background in forensic engineering, excellent communication skills, and experience working with attorneys and insurance companies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough investigations of structural failures and damages to determine the cause and extent of the issues.
- Prepare detailed forensic engineering reports, including findings, conclusions, and recommendations for remediation.
- Provide expert testimony in legal proceedings, including depositions and court appearances.
- Collaborate with attorneys, insurance adjusters, and other stakeholders to communicate findings and provide technical support.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and repeat business.
- Lead and manage forensic engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of services.
- Stay current with industry standards, codes, and regulations to ensure compliance and best practices.
- Mentor and train junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including networking, proposal writing, and client presentations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; a Master's degree is preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in California.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in structural forensic engineering.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and concisely.
- Proven experience in client interaction, particularly with attorneys and insurance companies.
- Demonstrated ability to build and grow a business, including developing new client relationships and expanding service offerings.
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools, such as AutoCAD, SAP2000, and forensic analysis software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects and deadlines.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in providing expert witness testimony.
- Knowledge of building codes, standards, and regulations specific to California.
