Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to deliver design and construction administration services for projects of various sizes in sectors such as education, civic, healthcare, and commercial. This role emphasizes building design, including both new constructions and renovations, with occasional involvement in industrial projects.
- Lead the structural design aspects of projects, make informed design recommendations and decisions, and ensure the quality and completion of construction drawings, specifications, reports, and other project documentation. Seek guidance from senior engineers as needed for overall direction and problem-solving.
- Provide guidance to less experienced engineers and designers assisting with project tasks, or demonstrate a willingness and ability to develop this skill.
- Mentor and educate other team members as you gain more experience.
- Establish and manage the structural scope, schedule, and budget, or show a willingness and ability to develop this capability.
- Visit project sites to offer technical assistance and help resolve construction-related issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
- 5-10 years of structural engineering experience in designing, modifying, and evaluating both building and non-building structures across various project types.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Iowa or eligibility for immediate licensure in Iowa.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and Microsoft Office is essential.
- Experience with steel, concrete, and masonry design; familiarity with wood design is advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
- Effective time and workload management skills, including the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks; capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously.
- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle, ability to climb ladders and work on elevated platforms and open grating, and the ability to wear personal protective equipment as required by specific clients and sites.
- Must pass drug and background screenings required for work at most client sites.
