A leading energy provider is looking for a Senior Solution Architect (SA) to drive innovation and support strategic customers in developing Energy as a Service (EaaS) solutions. The Senior SA will define EaaS solutions that include combined heat and power (CHP), small power generation, renewable energy, microgrids, energy storage, and financial solutions. This role involves collaborating with developers, investment associates, and project managers to create comprehensive technoeconomic solutions tailored to customers' needs. The objective is to develop optimized and differentiated energy solutions for customers.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a trusted advisor to our clients.
- Transform our value propositions into innovative and differentiated solutions that address customer needs, processes, and technical challenges.
- Develop conceptual techno-economic on-site energy solutions that tackle complex customer issues such as energy cost, sustainability, reliability, resilience, Capex constraints, and risk management (including detailed data analysis, conceptual design, and modeling).
- Collaborate with development team members to secure business by leading the conceptual design for Energy as a Service solutions that meet client needs.
- Define reference architectures and create technical proposals.
- Assist investment associates with financial modeling of opportunities in pursuit.
- Support the business development team in winning business by coaching them on solutions and aiding their sales efforts.
- Conduct educational sessions for our business development teams and origination partners.
- Establish a "Thought Leadership" position in the market and build credibility with customers.
- Mentor and guide other solution architects.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in a similar role and/or industry.
- Extensive experience in the project design phase with a deep understanding of how to influence project specifications.
- A respected technical leader capable of working with multiple stakeholders.
- Expertise in energy generation and microgrid technologies, including various baseload generation technologies, with experience executing microgrid projects in the US and Canada (knowledgeable about applicable codes, standards, permitting, and energy market regulations).
- Proven ability to independently define project scope and negotiate with partners.
- Strong collaboration skills with the ability to lead teams and guide collaborative proposal development.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Outstanding customer relationship and interpersonal skills.
- Confident public speaker, capable of presenting at conferences and leading technical workshops.
- Degree in Engineering.
Education Requirements:
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (mechanical or electrical preferred), Electronic Engineering, or a related field, along with 5+ years of work experience in technical engineering or a related field.
Additional Must Have's:
- 2+ years of experience in utility-scale and distributed behind-the-meter (BTM) energy storage systems (ESS), microgrid technologies, Energy Management Systems (EMS), ESS project design, and specification.
- 3+ years of experience in technical and commercial proposal development, cost evaluation, financial modeling, business development, and contract negotiation.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in power system engineering and power project development within the electric power industry, such as permitting, providing subcontracted services, or equipment engineering and construction.
- Experience in writing complex utility-scale construction proposals, utility capital planning, and obtaining regulatory approval for regulated transmission and distribution (T&D) projects
