Senior Solid Waste Engineer

A leading firm in the solid waste industry is seeking talented individuals to join their team. They specialize in strategic planning and support for solid waste systems and facilities, aiming to advance our brand and culture with a strong focus on client satisfaction. The organization possesses the skills, resources, and technical expertise to optimize the management of their clients' waste resources.
Your Role:
Responsibilities for this position include interpreting federal, state, and local regulations, analyzing and overseeing project work products, and reviewing site-specific technical data, calculations, technical reports, construction plans, cost estimates, environmental permit applications, and permit terms and conditions. These duties apply to the civil, environmental, and solid waste industries. Some on-site work and travel may be required. The role also involves building client relationships, supporting new client business development activities, including proposals, and assisting with cross-selling.
- Plan, develop, coordinate, and direct work for multiple projects and clients.
- Support strategic initiatives for continued work with key clients and business sectors.
- Maintain quality control on projects and administrative tasks.
- Work independently to perform project tasks, design, calculations, and reporting to meet project-specific requirements.
- Serve as a point of contact for clients and maintain positive client relationships.
- Manage multiple smaller company priorities and projects.
- Work at landfills, contaminated sites, and other locations where heavy equipment, contamination, or other health hazards may exist. Travel for short-duration projects if needed.
- Assist with proposals, including developing technical plans, schedules, and cost estimates, and preparing with staff and clients.
- Exhibit excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Ability to think and act critically and strategically.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in engineering or a related environmental field.
- Professional Engineer license or ability to acquire within one year of hire.
- 6 to 12+ years of experience in a related field.
- Experience in solid waste management, landfill design, biogas system design, remediation, and site civil.
- Regulatory experience required; experience in the upper Midwest, specifically Michigan, is a plus.
- Established client relationships are a plus.
- Project management experience, including budgets and invoicing, is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Self-disciplined and motivated individual who works well in a team environment.
- Proficiency with computer usage for document preparation, including Word and Excel.
- Working knowledge of computer-aided design software; Civil 3D preferred.
