A prominent environmental consulting firm is seeking a Senior Scientist to lead NEPA projects and programs. This role involves conducting environmental surveys, NEPA analysis, permitting, siting, routing, and other permitting services across various sectors, including utilities, oil and gas, and renewable energy. Position Overview:
The successful candidate will have a strong history of managing and leading tasks for both small and large-scale projects. Responsibilities include developing proposals and cost estimates, leading project tasks, managing budgets and forecasts, ensuring client satisfaction, and mentoring junior staff.
Job Duties:
- Conduct studies, evaluations, and prepare NEPA and state documentation for diverse environmental projects.
- Lead and manage habitat assessments, species-specific surveys, avian and bat studies, and other protected species studies.
- Oversee land use, DOT, and other entitlement permitting efforts.
- Manage tasks and mentor junior staff.
- Develop and strengthen client relationships.
- Prepare and present proposals, including scope of work, estimated cost, and schedule.
- Develop cost proposals and qualification statements to meet financial performance targets.
- Provide leadership and guidance to less-experienced staff.
- Build effective relationships with clients, customers, and contractors, and develop new business opportunities.
- Prepare and present client and professional meeting presentations.
- Manage sales and marketing efforts and identify key pursuits.
- Ensure adherence to QA/QC processes.
- Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, ecology, wildlife biology, or a related field from an accredited program, plus 8 years of applicable consulting experience. A master's degree can substitute for one year of experience.
- 10 years of related consulting experience is preferred.
- Experience in electricity transmission, oil & gas, renewable energy, transportation, and similar markets is preferred.
- Familiarity with resources and regulatory agencies in the central U.S. is preferred.
- Local and regional knowledge and relationships with existing clients are preferred.
- Experience in client and business development is preferred.
- Nationwide experience is a plus.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Working understanding of GIS.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience working with both private and public-sector clients.
Compensation:
$120,000.00 - $170,000.00 Annually
The expected compensation range for this position is based on various factors, including education, qualifications, prior work experience, and work location. The total annual compensation package includes a base salary and eligibility to participate in a discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
