Position Overview:
The Senior Geotechnical Engineer will play a lead role in managing geotechnical projects from concept to completion. This role involves technical design, analysis, client interaction, and mentoring junior staff. You'll contribute significantly to the success of our projects and will help drive our mission to deliver safe, sustainable, and effective geotechnical solutions for our clients.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage geotechnical investigations, analyses, and design for a range of projects, including transportation, utilities, commercial, and energy infrastructure.
- Oversee field investigations, including soil sampling and testing, and interpret geotechnical data for engineering applications.
- Provide design expertise in foundations, retaining walls, slope stabilization, ground improvement, and earthworks.
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure quality, budget, and scheduling goals are met.
- Prepare detailed reports, proposals, and technical recommendations for clients and stakeholders.
- Mentor and supervise junior engineers and technical staff to support skill development and knowledge sharing.
- Act as a key contact for clients, representing the firm at project meetings and presenting technical findings.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Maryland (or the ability to obtain it within six months).
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with strong expertise in geotechnical design, analysis, and project management.
- Proficiency in geotechnical software (e.g., GeoStudio, Plaxis, LPile) and advanced understanding of relevant engineering principles.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to present technical information effectively to clients and team members.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with an analytical approach and attention to detail.
