Role Overview:
As the Principal Geotechnical Engineer, you will be responsible for leading and growing the geotechnical engineering practice in our Seattle office. This is a unique opportunity to leverage your technical expertise, business acumen, and leadership skills to develop new business, mentor junior staff, and deliver exceptional results on high-profile projects. You will have a significant impact on both the firm's regional growth and the broader success of our national geotechnical team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Team Building: Lead the geotechnical team in Seattle, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture. Recruit, mentor, and develop engineers to build a strong and growing team.
- Business Development: Drive business growth by identifying new opportunities, building relationships with clients, and expanding the office's project portfolio.
- Project Management: Oversee a diverse range of geotechnical projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest technical standards.
- Client Engagement: Develop and maintain relationships with key clients, contractors, and stakeholders. Serve as the technical expert and trusted advisor to clients.
- Strategic Planning: Work with senior management to develop and execute a strategic growth plan for the Seattle office, aligning with the firm's long-term vision.
- Technical Leadership: Provide technical oversight on complex geotechnical projects, offering guidance and solutions for challenges such as foundation design, slope stability, and seismic considerations.
- Collaboration: Partner with other disciplines within the firm, including civil, structural, and environmental teams, to deliver integrated, multidisciplinary solutions to clients.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional License: Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required, with the ability to obtain licensure in Washington if not already held.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with a proven track record of managing complex projects and leading teams.
- Business Acumen: Demonstrated success in business development, client management, and securing new work in the geotechnical field.
- Leadership Skills: Strong leadership abilities with a passion for mentoring and developing staff, along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of geotechnical design, analysis, and construction practices, particularly in the Pacific Northwest region.
