Job Summary: The Senior Geotechnical Engineer will lead and manage geotechnical investigations, design foundations, and ensure compliance with environmental regulations. This role involves overseeing field and laboratory work, preparing detailed reports, and providing technical guidance to junior staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets. Manage projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
- Field Investigations: Conduct and supervise field investigations, including drilling, sampling, and logging of soil and rock. Perform in-situ testing and site characterization.
- Laboratory Testing: Oversee and perform laboratory tests such as soil classification, compaction, and strength tests. Ensure quality control and quality assurance of test results.
- Design and Analysis: Design foundations, retaining structures, and other geotechnical systems. Perform stability analyses, settlement calculations, and other geotechnical evaluations.
- Report Preparation: Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, including data analysis, design recommendations, and construction guidelines.
- Client Interaction: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, agencies, and other stakeholders. Provide technical expertise and support during project meetings and presentations.
- Team Leadership: Mentor and train junior engineers and technical staff. Foster a collaborative and positive work environment.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering, including project management and field investigations.
- Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Skills: Proficiency in geotechnical software (e.g., GeoStudio, AutoCAD), excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Other: Ability to travel to project sites as needed. Commitment to professional development and staying current with industry standards and practices.
Location: The position is based in Santa Ana, CA.
Salary Range: $150,000 - $180,000 per year.
