About the Role
As a Senior Forensic Architect, you will lead investigations into architectural failures, damages, and performance issues, providing expert analysis and recommendations for a diverse range of projects. You'll work on cases involving commercial, residential, and institutional buildings, including litigation support, insurance claims, and design flaws. This role requires a strong ability to assess, document, and analyze architectural systems, as well as the ability to communicate findings to clients, legal teams, and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead forensic investigations into architectural failures, building damages, and design defects, providing expert analysis to determine the root cause of issues.
- Assess the performance of architectural systems, including exterior cladding, roofing, windows, doors, and structural elements, through field inspections and detailed analysis.
- Prepare comprehensive forensic reports, documenting findings, causes of failure, and expert recommendations for remediation.
- Provide expert testimony in legal proceedings and support clients in litigation related to architectural issues and building performance.
- Collaborate with structural engineers, contractors, legal teams, and other professionals to develop solutions and strategies for resolving complex cases.
- Mentor junior architects and consultants, providing guidance on forensic investigation techniques and best practices.
- Participate in business development activities, including networking, proposal writing, and identifying new opportunities for forensic services.
Preferred Qualifications
- Licensed Architect (AIA certification preferred).
- At least 8 years of experience in architecture, with a focus on forensic investigations, building performance analysis, and failure analysis.
- Strong knowledge of building codes, construction methods, and materials science.
- Experience with a variety of building types, including commercial, residential, and institutional projects.
- Proven ability to prepare detailed forensic reports, deliver expert testimony, and work effectively in a legal and consulting environment.
- Familiarity with forensic tools and software for building analysis (e.g., moisture surveys, infrared thermography).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical information to non-experts.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
