Title: Fire Protection Engineer
Location: Remote - Employees must be based in KY, TN, or FL
Salary: $100,000 - $175,000
Summary: This West Coast based engineering firm is looking for a strong fire protection engineer who can join their expanding team and bring valuable knowledge and skills. They are seeking someone to be the discipline leader and report directly to the department leader of engineering and play a vital role in the growth and leadership of the fire protection team. You'd be working in a remote capacity within one of the three states listed above (Kentucky, Tennessee, or Florida) with the ability to travel occasionally to job sites. Apply now to be considered!
Responsibilities:
- Design, layout, and review complex fire protection systems, including but not limited to sprinkler systems, standpipe and hose streams, fire pumps, water storage for private fire protection, private service mains, and alarm system requirements, accounting for constructible installation and equipment service requirements with minimal guidance.
- Perform site visits and hazard assessments. Assess and analyze potential hazards, understanding the specific challenges and requirements of each site.
- Prepare and review fire protection system calculations, including hydraulic analysis, fire pump sizing, and fire water storage requirements. Familiarity with hydraulic calculation software, including HydraCAD, AutoSprink (preferred), or similar.
- Assist and/or prepare proposals from business development activities and coordinate such activities with appropriate management and project management staff
- Write and edit project specifications, including writing additional sections and/or paragraphs for unique project requirements
- Develop clear, concise, and appropriate system narratives, including consideration for writing, organizing the document, and including/developing appropriate image
- Ensure that project budgets are adhered to, keeping an eye out for scope creep
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- PE license required
- Significant experience in MEP consulting showing skills at the project, client and staff management level
- Ability to foster a collaborative work environment
- Must be organized, enthusiastic, timely, dependable, and detail-oriented
- Previous AutoCAD and Revit experience
