Role Overview: As a Senior Estimator, you will play a pivotal role in analyzing and determining the requirements for our significant projects. Your expertise will guide us through detailed evaluations, ensuring we meet and exceed client expectations while fostering a supportive and innovative work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Analysis: Examine contract documents, including isometric and engineering drawings, to determine project needs such as bonding and insurance for large and intricate projects.
- Scheduling: Develop and manage critical path schedules, including milestones and completion deadlines to ensure timely project delivery.
- Cost Estimation: Perform comprehensive quantity take-offs for labor, equipment, and materials. Review pricing and address any escalations to ensure bid accuracy.
- Budget Oversight: Lead the estimation of general expenses and project-specific requirements. Oversee the final bid submission process, ensuring all documents are accurate and complete.
- Risk Management: Conduct risk and opportunity analyses to inform the risk register and develop strategies for mitigation.
- Coordination: Collaborate with external consultants and project management teams to align on budget requirements and manage the tender development process.
- Bench-marking: Support the chief estimator in gathering and analyzing historical data to refine estimation practices.
- Client Engagement: Understand and address clients' business needs and success criteria, offering solutions to enhance project outcomes.
- Strategic Input: Advise on strategic pursuits and potential opportunities to align with management goals.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent trade experience. ( preferred )
- Certification: Gold Seal certification in estimating (CDN) required.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years in construction cost estimating, with a preference for 12 months of onsite experience. Proven track record of managing projects up to $250 million.
- Expertise: In-depth knowledge of construction methods, bid preparation principles, and various contract delivery models (e.g., hard bid, GMP, unit price, design-build).
- Leadership: Strong ability to lead teams, maintain productive relationships with stakeholders, and leverage industry connections.
- Skills: Resourceful, self-motivated, and highly organized with exceptional multitasking abilities.
