Senior Environmental Engineer (PE)
Location: Chicago, IL
This multidisciplinary, employee-owned firm is looking for a seasoned project manager and environmental engineer to expand its environmental services team within its HQ office in Chicago, IL. As an experienced environmental engineer, you will engage in contaminated site assessments and remediation, design and operation of both in-situ and ex-situ remediation systems, vapor inhalation assessment and mitigation design, groundwater management, PFAS-related site assessments and remediation, and Brownfield remediation and redevelopment. Additionally, you will develop business skills essential for a successful consulting career, lead business and client development opportunities, manage projects, and support staff management and mentoring.
Candidate Qualifications:
- Licensed professional engineer (P.E.) certification (required).
- Bachelor's degree in environmental, civil, or chemical engineering (required).
- Advanced degree in the same fields (preferred).
- 7+ years of professional experience (required).
- Background in environmental remediation system design, including in-situ remediation (e.g., ISCO, SVE, thermal, ISS) and excavation/disposal, system installation, operation, maintenance, and optimization (required).
Job Responsibilities:
- Design, manage, and draw conclusions from remedial investigation projects involving contaminated media (soil, groundwater, surface water, soil gas, and indoor air) using both traditional and high-resolution characterization techniques.
- Develop feasibility studies, remedial alternative evaluations, remediation cost estimates, and remedial action plans for soil, vapor, and groundwater remediation projects.
- Design and oversee the implementation of projects using in-situ and ex-situ remedial technologies.
- Manage remediation system operation and maintenance services as necessary.
- Develop monitoring plans, performance criteria, and optimization options for remedial approaches.
- Manage tasks or projects, including tracking project budgets and schedules.
- Lead the development of proposals and other business development activities, including attending local networking events and national industry-related conferences.
